Open Weekend at Blackmore Farm . . .
Open Weekend at Blackmore Farm 6th & 7th June 2009 review
On the 6th and 7th June 2009 Blackmore Farm threw its gates open to the
general public. Over the two days 1400 people looked around our 15th
Century Manor House and mixed dairy and arable farm. We ran tractor and
trailer rides around the farm, had numerous displays and exhibits and
the opportunity for people to watch farming operations in action
including hay making and milking. We were pleased to have the National
Farmers Union (NFU) farming road show, run by Ian Ball. The interest and
response from the general public was amazing. During the day we also had
a falconer, Taunton Garrison rein acting scenes from the English Civil
War period, and the house decorated with flowers by the Quantock Flower
Club. All the proceeds from the day went to the support the Children’s
Hospice Southwest and a local School 2 Farm project.
